Catherine T. "Kay" Fay, a resident of Tinkham Road, Shaftsbury, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington surrounded by her family.
Born in the Bronx, NY on August 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (Holder) DeVlieger.
Kay married Raymond William Fay in 1948 and they moved to Long Island where they raised two children, Sharon and William. In 1969 they moved to Shaftsbury. Kay loved her home and her garden. She loved to bake and sell her goods at the farmers market. Ray died in 1991.
An executive secretary for many years, Kay worked at Bennington College before returning to NYC to work for the chancellor of the City University of New York. During that time she received her masters degree in Criminal Justice at the age of 66.
She loved to travel and her journeys took her to Cozumel, Egypt, Africa, England, Ireland, Scotland, China, Japan, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Iceland and Machu Pichu just to name a few. Her favorite place was Cozumel. She visited there twice a year and considered it her second home and family.
She touched the lives of so many people all over the world. She is remembered for her contagious laugh, free spirit and generous heart.
Kay is survived by her daughter Sharon and son William; a sister, Joan James; grandchildren Joshua Fay, Erik Blanchard and Lindsey Blanchard; great-grandchildren Danyelle Fay, Sadie Fay and Finnegan Blanchard. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan Fay.
She lived life to the fullest and will be missed dearly but will never be forgotten.
Services will be held from St Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12 noon where the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered.
A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:30 p.m. at The Publyk House, 782 Harwood Hill, Bennington.
