Carolyn Thibodeau (Woodcock) Hutchins

Carolyn Thibodeau (Woodcock) Hutchins, formerly of Bennington, Vt., passed away on October 7, 2024 in Brooksville, Florida after a brief illness. Carolyn, the daughter of Rose (Betit) Thibodeau and Alfred Thibodeau, was born on October 4, 1948 and is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kevin Thibodeau.

Carolyn attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and her first two years of high school at the old Catholic High. She spent the next two years at Bennington High School, graduating in 1966. She worked for several years at Howard Johnson’s restaurant before obtaining her nursing degree from the Putnam Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an LPN, beginning at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT., and in various nursing homes in the various cities where she resided, ultimately returning to and retiring from the Veterans Home in 2010.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard Hutchins, who she married on May 27, 1996, her brother Joseph Thibodeau (wife Kathleen)of Shaftsbury, Vt., and three children from a previous marriage: Stephen Woodcock (wife Lisa) of Chesapeake VA, Rose Woodcock of Daytona FL, and Crysta Jones (husband Tom) of Reading PA.

She also leaves behind four stepchildren: Melanie Piper (husband Rob) of Keene NH, Katrina DiGiovanni (wife Gina) of Clermont FL, Jared Hutchins (partner Sheena Blood) of Marlborough NH and Jeff Hutchins (wife Connie) of Keene NH as well as one nephew, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Carolyn maintained her membership in American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13, Bennington, Vt. regardless of where she resided. Her main interests were reading, baking for her neighbors and friends, and spending time with her family, whether in person, via texting, or by video chat.
