BENNINGTON
Caroline A. Parker, 87, widow of Roy A. Parker, a resident of Beech Street, died peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Shaftsbury in her grandfather's house on Cleveland Avenue on December 15, 1929, the daughter of the late Edward Ahearn and Doris (Carlisle) Ahearn Malon. Caroline received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1947 honors graduate of Bennington High School.
Caroline and Roy were married on February 11, 1950. They were together for almost 54 years when Roy died on February 1, 2004.
Caroline began working in February, 1947 in the law offices of Francis E. Morrissey, Norton Barber and James S. Holden while still attending high school. This office was later known as Barber, Gilman and Morrissey and Caroline worked there through December, 1990. In February of 1991 she went to work for the law office of Gene Clark, Peter Holden and Margaret Lillie until retiring at the age of 70 in December, 1999.
Caroline put up a good fight against kidney disease. She had been on dialysis since December, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Harper of Bennington; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Joanne Parker of Southport, NC; a grandson, Andrew Parker of Portsmouth, VA; a special niece and nephew, Linda and Austin Smith of Fairhaven, MA; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Caroline was predeceased by two infant sons, Robert and John Parker and two brothers, Gerald and John Ahearn.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Morneault officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery
