Mrs. Carmela "Carrie" Chipello, widow of Angelo A. "Chip" Chipello, died Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the age of 100 at her residence in North Bennington, VT.
She was born in New Canaan, CT, July 19, 1918. She was the daughter of Serafino "William" and Mary (Vitti) Tiani. Carrie received her early education in New Canaan, graduated from New Canaan High School, and later attended Merrill Business School in Stamford, CT.
She married Mr. Chipello June 24, 1940 at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. In earlier years Mrs. Chipello was actively involved with her husband in the operation of Hoyt Oil Company in New Canaan.
Carrie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, where she was a member the Sodality. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court of St. Aloysius Court 744 in New Canaan.
Survivors include her children, Marleen Salko of Westport, CT, Christopher Chipello of Montreal, and Peter Chipello of Tucson, AZ; daughters in law Diana Chipello of Northridge, CA and Danielle Auger of Montreal; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son, Paul W. Chipello.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 12, with a prayer at 12:45 p.m. and then from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington at 1:30 p.m. where the Liturgy of Christian death and Burial will be offered.
The burial will follow in the family lot at Saint John's Cemetery.
