Candice M. Neubauer (Carpenter)

December 11, 1950 — March 15, 2017

Candice Neubauer, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Mar. 15th, 2017 in Bennington, VT. She was a member of the North Pownal Congregational Church. She was the wife of Fred Neubauer, the mother of Natalie (Bob) Waters, Beckee Neubauer (Shannon Wilkins) and Fred Neubauer IV, and also the grandmother of Kayleigh and Bree Waters. Candice was born in Spokane, Washington on Dec. 11, 1950 and came from a family of 17 children. She relocated her family to Vermont in 1990 to help care for her brother's children, Kelly Murphy and Tracy Carpenter. Candice and Fred hosted Jihee, an international high school student from South Korea for 2 years and continued to keep in touch with her after graduation in 2013. She became the foster grandma to Murphy for 9 months in 2011 and helped take care of her during the day while Natalie worked. To Candice, her family was everything and she left a legacy that will never be forgotten. She always said the thing that pleased her most in her life was that she knew all her children, son-in-law and grandchildren each had a personal relationship with the Lord. She was a prayer warrior and was filled with compassion for others. She was incredibly generous and selfless and used those gifts to continually bless those she came in to contact with. Candice was feisty, strong, independent and passionate. Her faith was unwavering. She was hugely supportive of Grace Christian School in both her time and her money and spent a couple years there cooking lunches for the students.
Per Candice's request, there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Grace Christian School, 104 Kocher Dr. Bennington, VT 05201.
