Brian Arthur Steckley (Steckley)

April 6, 1947 — August 28, 2018

Brian Arthur Steckley, 71, passed away Tuesday August 28 at SVMC after a short battle with cancer.

Brian was born April 6, 1947. Though born in Maryland, Brian spent much of his life in Brookfield, CT. Brian attended Kent School where he rowed crew, wrestled, played football, and made many life-long friends.

Brian moved to Vermont with his wife, Susan, to work for a family friend, Arthur Roberts at the Shea Agency. Brian and Susan raised their family in Bennington.

Brian had a big heart, and always gave all he could to help people in need. He loved cooking, watching football and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the Bennington Lions Club for close to 40 years. Since retiring, Brian's passions were working to raise money for cancer research with the Cancer Crusaders and organizing a summer camp for deaf students with the Lions Club.

Brian was predeceased by his wife, Susan Steckley. He is survived by three daughters; Kristen Pierce of Leland, NC, her husband Tim and children Alex and Emily; Renee Speir of Pittstown, NY, her husband Jody and children Damon, Jared, and Courtney; and Lisa Martinez of South Burlington, VT, her husband Jay and children Jacob and Griffin; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
