Beverly B. Sears passed away peacefully at her home in North Bennington, VT on November 2, 2023, following a long illness. Born in Vergennes VT on December 9th, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Jean and George Bushey, She is survived by her beloved husband State Senator Dick Sears, her adopted son John Murphy, her grandchildren Delilah and Kadin Murphy. Her Brother and Sister in law Dean & Marie Bushey of Hoosick Falls, NY and her sister Doris Kelleher of Phoenix, AZ as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Beverly was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers Anthony and Vincent Bushey. Beverly graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and the State University of New York, Binghamton. After college she had a stint as a teacher, later Beverly decided on a career as a waitress and bartender. She worked at several establishments around the country and settled in Bennington where she worked at the Mount Anthony Country Club and the Bennington Station. Beverly enjoyed traveling especially on cruise ships all totaled she spent 528 days at sea on Holland America Line, where she was often the daily trivia winner. She looked forward to yearly trips to Cape Cod with her family and Bob & Sue Puzzo and Beverly Duncan. She also enjoyed golfing especially with her close friends Carol Grande and Kevin Whalen. Beverly was an avid reader, loved doing cross words and her nightly Jeopardy. She loved her Golden Retrievers especially Marley who misses her greatly. Bev often said no outfit is complete with out Golden Retriever hair. She was also a master of all trades, an accomplished seamstress who made many of her own cloths and a wonderful cook. A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 9, 2023 at 12 PM at the E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington VT 05201 Friends may call at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of the memorial service when the family will be in attendance. In lieu of flowers contributions in Beverly’s memory may be made, through the funeral home to Seall, Inc. (204-206 Depot) or the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to express they’re sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Eric Seyferth, the staff from VNA /Hospice of the Bennington Region and Bayada Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care Beverly received during her long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
