Beulah Leonard Racicot, 88, a longtime resident of Putnam St. in Bennington died Monday March 7, 2016 at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a long illness.
She was born in Bennington, VT December 31, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Ralph J. Leonard and Alma (LaPointe) Leonard. Beulah received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School.
She married John J. Racicot in 1949 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Mr. Racicot died April 13, 2006.
For many years Beulah was employed at the Union Carbide Corporation in Bennington from which she retired.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church where she was a member of Saint Anne's Society. Beulah also volunteered at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Her family was her main interest.
Survivors include her three children, Cheryl Bennett and her husband Stephen of North Bennington, VT, John L. Racicot and his wife Cathy of North Pownal, VT and Sandra Roberson of North Bennington, VT. Five grandchildren, Erik Bennett and his wife Heidi, Tori Berry and her husband Michael, Stacey Muscato and her husband James, Keith Racicot and Jared Dailey and his wife Annie; six great grandchildren, Madison Bennett, Kassidy Bennett, Grace Berry, Anne Berry, Micah Muscato and Emiliana Muscato. Her brothers and sisters, Marion Noyes of Bennington, Ralph Leonard of North Pownal, Nelson Leonard of Bennington, Eva O'Dell of Pownal, Shirley Carroll of Petersburg, NY and Velta Thayer of Bennington along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by three sisters, Louise Peacock, Barbara Baker and Beatrice Olin
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday March 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 9:30 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
The burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
