Bettylou Harwood,76, a resident of 206 School Street, Bennington, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born in Bennington, VT October 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Welch) Pratt. Bettylou received her education in Troy, NY and graduated from a catholic high school there.
In earlier years Bettylou operated a day care business on Dewey Street and Putnam St. She later worked at Price Chopper for 5 ½ years retiring in 2006.
Bettylou was a member of the VFW Auxiliary where she was a member of the Color Guard. She was also a member of the Bennington Moose Lodge.
Bettylou enjoyed puzzles. Her family was her main interest.
Survivors include her long-time companion, Herbert N, Eastman of Bennington; her children, Kevin Blair of Bennington, Tammy Fann of Tennessee, Mary Center of Mechanicville, NY, Kelly Walsh and Bernard Blair Jr. both of Bennington; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Pratt of Bennington and Debra Pratt Peckham of Andover, MA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son, Edward Blair, a brother Merritt Smith and a sister Rose Marie Welch.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
Private committal services will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family.
