Bessie B. Becker (Briggs)

BENNINGTON

Mrs. Bessie B. Becker, 94, widow of Ward S. Becker and a resident of School Street, Bennington, died Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Searsburg, VT on October 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Florence (Russell) Briggs. She received her education in the Searsburg and Wilmington and was the first resident of Searsburg to graduate from Wilmington High School.

Mr. & Mrs. Becker were married November 15, 1945 in Searsburg. Mr. Becker died January 13, 1989.

In earlier years Bessie had been employed for 13 years at Thomson Manufacturing Company and at various drug stores in the community and later served as secretary at both 204 Depot Street and Bennington Day Care.

Her home and family were her main interest.

Survivors include two daughters, Bette Becker of Bennington and Linda Becker of Frederick, MD; a step-son, Theodore (Noreen) Becker of Arlington; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, especially Donna Wright with whom Mrs. Becker was very close.

She was predeceased by a brother and sister, Clarence and Mary Briggs.

At Mrs. Becker's request there will be no services held.

Burial will be in the family lot at Woodford Cemetery.
