BERNARD E. LOOMIS, SR. OBITUARY
NORTH BENNINGTON, VERMONT
Mr. Bernard Eugene Loomis, Sr., 82, a resident of Corey Acres in North Bennington died on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Rockville, CT on March 3, 1938 and was the son of the late LeRoy Loomis and the former Mae Evelyn Lee. He received his education in the North Bennington Schools.
He proudly served in the U. S. Army Reserves during the Korean War and the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Loomis married the former Sandra Marie LeBlanc in 1978 in Bennington.
In earlier years, he was employed at Cushman Manufacturing and Eagle Square. He retired after twenty-seven years with Johnson Controls, Inc.
His hobbies and interests included camping, gardening, and especially spending time with the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra M. Loomis of North Bennington; five children; Bernard E. Loomis, Jr and Sheri Harrington of Bennington, Eyvonne "Bonnie" Loomis and Diane Loomis, both of Wenatchee, WA and Shelly Gotsch of North Bennington. He has two step-sons, Edward Bushee of Saratoga Springs, NY and Brian Bushee of Bennington. Thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. seven brothers and sisters, Jeanne Bean of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, George Loomis of Lafayette, TN, Ronald Loomis, Sr. and Joyce Williams of North Bennington, Robert Loomis, Sr. and Jacqueline Harrington of Shaftsbury, VT. and Dennis Loomis of Bennington. Along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mr. Loomis was predeceased by three grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters; LeRoy Loomis, Jr., Clifton "Skip" Loomis, and Bertha Greene, Marge Herrick,, Shirley Christiansen and Donna Bailey.
The funeral will be held privately by the family, due to COVID -19 protocols.
The burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
