Beatrice E. O'Dell (Carpenter)

BENNINGTON

Beatrice E. O'Dell, 92, widow of Merritt A. O'Dell, a longtime resident of South Stream Road and more recently of Homestead Mews in North Bennington died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Born in Bennington on August 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Dorothy (Dorman) Carpenter. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Beatrice and Merritt were married in Bennington on November 29, 1941. Mr. O'Dell died May 31, 2008. Bea's home and family were her main interest and her favorite pastimes were knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Gary E. O'Dell and his wife Barbara of Shaftsbury and Glenn A. O'Dell and his partner Bert Haggerty of Bennington; five grandchildren, Christopher O'Dell of Arizona, Dawn "Delta" (Tomas) Payet of Arizona, Heidi (Chris Ketcham) O'Dell of Bennington, Jeffrey O'Dell (Jenna McLain) of Woodford and Vicki (Steve) Sausville of Eagle Bridge, NY; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Chloe, Skylar, McKenzie and Anais; two sisters, Leona Willard of Whitney Point, NY and Linda Holland of Pownal and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bea was predeceased by seven siblings, Mildred Thompson, Alice Sanders, Janet Reagan, Raymond, Donald, Lawrence and John Carpenter.

At the family's request private services will take place at the convenience of the family.
