BENNINGTON
Beatrice Mae Mayer, 88, a resident of Airport Road, North Bennington, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Bennington on April 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marjorie (Bushee) Bates. Beatrice received her education in the Arlington schools.
In earlier years Beatrice was employed for fifteen years at the Polygraphic Company in North Bennington. She later worked for 22 years at the Stanley Tool Company in Shaftsbury.
Among Beatrice's favorite pastimes were going to Bingo, listening to old-time country tunes, watching old western movies and especially playing cards with her kids.
Survivors include nine children, Michael (Debra) Mayer of North Bennington, Daniel (Sandra Mayer of Ocala, FL, Curtis (Cathy Raymond) Mayer of Hinsdale, NH, Roxanne (Tony) Hover of Arlington, Christopher (Lynette) Mayer of Faith, NC, Nick (Larry Salisbury) Mayer of North Bennington, Michele (Steve) Hurley of Bennington, Jennifer (Bobby) Trexler of Salisbury, NC and Timothy (Catherine) Mayer of Bennington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. Beatrice was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Peters and three siblings, Ruth Blowe, Arnold Bates and Sylvia Fedele.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
