Barrett C. Downey (Downey)

Barrett was born in Bennington at Putnam Memorial Hospital, now Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Barrett attended P.S. 81 Elementary School in Riverdale, NY. He then attended Mount Anthony Junior High and graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, VT.
Barrett was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, deer hunting, hiking, stone masonry and ginseng
hunting. Barrett also had a very artistic side. He enjoyed painting, pottery, writing and philosophy.
Barrett is survived by his parents James and Marlene Downey of Shaftsbury, VT. Barrett also leaves behind his sister Elly Downey Hunter of Winchendon, MA; his son; his grandfather and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barrett was a friend to many and a very kind soul. He will be missed deeply.
Barrett was laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Shaftsbury, VT.
In addition, Barrett's family would like to thank the First Responders that assisted them. They also want to thank Mahar & Son Funeral Home for their attention to detail in every respect.
