Barbara LaRoche, age 77, passed away peacefully January 4, 2019, at St. Peter's Hospital following a brief illness.
Barbara was born on August 11, 1941, in North Adams, MA to her parents, Clifford and Esther Sullivan. She was educated in North Adams school systems and later attended St. Joseph's Junior College in Bennington, Vermont, where she received an associates degree.
While living in Virginia Beach, she was greatly invested in the PTA and was awarded a Lifetime Membership into the Virginia Congress of Parents and Teachers Association for her contributions. She later moved to Manchester, VT, where she ran a local business with her husband Richard LaRoche for many years.
Barbara had many passions. She was an avid knitter, enjoyed writing, and taking cruises. She was a member of Manchester Country Club for many years, where she enjoyed playing in the Twilight League. Her greatest passion was being Mimi to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Richard, 2015. She is survived by her brother William Sullivan, her children, Michael (and Corrine) Evans, Mark (and Cathy) Evans, C.J. (and Lena) LaRoche, Melissa (and Seth) Rice, daughter-in-law, Janna LaRoche, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take place on January 17, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in Manchester, VT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter's Community Hospice Inn, Albany, NY through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
