Barbara LaCroix, 69, a resident of Greenview Drive in Bennington, VT died Monday May 9, 2016 in Bennington following a long illness.
She was born in Glens Falls, New York November 6, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Carswell) Newton.
She received her education in Glens Falls and was a graduate of Glens Falls Senior High School. Barbara later graduated from the Putnam Memorial School of Nursing.
She married James T. LaCroix September 9, 1967. Mr. LaCroix died February 26, 1999.
In earlier years Barbara was employed at the Putnam Memorial Hospital and later at the Vermont Veterans Home.
Barbara enjoyed music, art and crafts, flowers and plants, and her animals. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Annette Marchillo of Billerica, MA and two sons James T. LaCroix II and Jesse J. LaCroix both of Bennington; Three grandsons, Joshua and Jonathan Marchillo of Billerica, MA and John LaCroix of Bennington, VT; One granddaughter, Lilly LaCroix of Bennington. A sister Patricia Calhoun of New Preston, CT and three brothers, Robert W. Newton of Albany, NY, John Newton of Argyle, NY and Walter Newton of Kingsport, TN along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 393 Gore Road Bennington, VT on Friday May 13 at 1:00 p.m.
The burial will follow in the family lot at the Center Shaftsbury Cemetery in Shaftsbury, VT.
