Barbara Ann Gorry (Schuellain)

BENNINGTON, VERMONT
Barbara Ann Gorry, age 86, a resident of East Road, died on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, following a long illness. Born in Floral Park, NY on February 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Edna (Engel) Schuellain.
She received her early education in Floral Park and is a graduate of Lenox Hills Hospital, School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse, working at Lenox Hills Hospital in Manhattan and Nassau Hospital in Mineola, NY.
Barbara married William C. Gorry on June 9,1956 at Lutheran Epiphany Church in Hempstead, NY. William, a firefighter, died on March 10, 1960 in the line of duty. Barbara enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington, Vermont and was the "Queen Mom of The St. Peter's Red Hat Society". Barbara's family always came first and was her top priority.
Barbara is survived by her two sons: Robert (Maria) Gorry of Bennington and William (Jazmine) Gorry of West Warwick, RI. She leaves seven grandchildren: Robert, Michelle, Kevin, Daniel, Lauren, William Christopher, and David. She is predeceased by her husband and parents.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon, July 18, at 4:00PM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, Vermont. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00PM until the time of the service. Interment will take place in the Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, NY on Friday afternoon, July 19, at 1:00PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cancer Crusaders at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
