Barbara Joyce Deery (Ricker)

May 13, 1934 — April 16, 2021

Barbara Joyce Deery, 86, a resident of Dewey Street in Bennington, died on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the Vermont Veterans Home following a long illness.

Barbara was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on May 13, 1934, and was the daughter of the late David and Alma Ricker. She received her education in Pownal and Bennington. She graduated from Pownal

Schools in 1947, and Bennington High School in 1952. In early years after graduating, Barbara worked at Union Carbide in Bennington. She married James Deery on May 22, 1970. James survives. They have been married for fifty one years. For many years, she has run the family household as well as her creative craft business. Her life was all about family, and her "Gang of Bowlers". One of her bigger joys was being creative with her craft business, and trips to the casinos.

Besides her husband, Barbara is survived by three children: Christopher Deery, Robin Preble, and Angie Rogers. She leaves four granddaughters; Taylor, Megan, Emily and Grace, as well as one great granddaughter, Jessica. Barbara is also survived by one brother, David Ricker, Jr. and nieces.

She is predeceased by her parents and one infant son, Steven.

There are no calling hours scheduled. Graveside services will be held on Friday afternoon, April 23, 2021 at 1:00PM at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
