Barbara Petrelis Cornell (Petrelis)

April 21, 1931 — April 2, 2016

Barbara Petrelis Cornell of N. Syracuse, NY passed away on April 2, 2016 at the age of 84.

She was born in Bennington, the eldest daughter of Eddie and Lillian Petrelis. Barbara attended Bennington High School and then St. Joseph's Business School. She worked for Sears in Troy, NY and later moved to Syracuse where she was a bookkeeper at Tristone, Marchad and Disceza, until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Liverpool, NY. She also sang in the church choir, and the Liverpool Coral Society. She was also in great demand as a singer for many weddings.

After a serious fall, Barbara moved to an assisted living apartment at the Malta House in N. Syracuse, NY, where she was lovingly taken care of by her social worker, nurses and aides.

She was predeceased by her husband Chuck Cornell and her mother and father. She is survived by her two sisters; Beverley and Theodora Petrelis, both of Bennington, VT

A Memorial mass will be held on Friday afternoon, April 15, 2016 at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington at 1:00PM.
Interment will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours scheduled.
