Barbara Briggs, 82, a lifelong resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at Crescent Manor in Bennington.
She was born in Bennington to the late Lizzie (Hill) and Randall Briggs on August 25,1939. She attended Bennington High School and later received her GED. In early years she was employed at General Cable and worked various manufacturing jobs, but she most enjoyed working for the Bennington Chamber of Commerce.
Barbara was very artistic, she loved to draw, paint, and quilt. She also loved spending time outdoors, taking photographs while hiking, fishing, and camping. She played guitar and loved music, especially Elvis Presley. She was interested in Native American culture and enjoyed attending Powwows. Barbara was a one-of-a-kind free spirit, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her seven children; Sarina Monahan (Bernie), Bill Sherman (Donna), Jack Sherman, Chris Sherman (Shelley), Julie Trueman (Robin), Michelle Boisse (Pete), and Kelly Thorpe; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with a great-great-grandchild on the way. Barbara is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
She was predeceased by her six siblings; Harry, Randall ("Ted"), Janet, Patsy, Lewis, and Marlene; a granddaughter Tifany Sherman, and longtime companion Ray Jaquith.
The family would like to thank Crescent Manor Nursing Home and VNA & Hospice for their support and all of the love and care they showed Barbara.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Sunday, August 28th, 2022. Place and time to be announced by the family.
