Barbara J. Bitler, aged 74, passed away on Tuesday May 4th, 2021 following a short, but hard fought battle against cancer.
Barbara was born in Rochester, NY October 28, 1946 and is the daughter of the late Ruth and Paul James Slater. Her education was received in Rochester, NY, and was a graduate of Nazareth College having received her business degree.
She is the widow of the late Walter T. Bitler who passed away on September 18, 2016. She met Walter through her family flower shop. They married and had five children Barbara was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Christ our Savior Parish in Manchester, VT. She will be remembered for being a kind, caring, compassionate woman who's spirit would light up any room. Barbara was also filled with immense drive and determination. Barbara was adamant about making sure everyone was happy and taken care of.
Barbara is survived by her five children: Kevin (Michelle) Bitler, Apex, NC, Karen Bitler-Graves, Manchester, VT, Julie (Matt Litwin) Dennis of Arlington, VT, Terri (Darren Babbin) of Tinmouth, VT, and Daniel (Laura) Bitler, of South Hamilton, MA. Barbara also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Ella, Matthew, Frankie, Luke, Emma, Nicholas, Ruthie, Jason, Jameson, Sean, and Riley.
Barbara is also survived by her sister Kathleen (Richard) Drexel, and younger brother Paul (Elizabeth) Slater, as well as, two brother in laws Richard and Carl Bitler, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Patricia Harrington.
A prayer service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral and Cremation Service, Bonnet Street in Manchester on Wednesday May 12th, at 10:30 AM following a Mass at Christ our Savior Parish at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, May 11th, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
