Austin H. Wilcox passed away suddenly on Thursday December 15, 2022 at the age of 27 at his residence in Pawlet, VT. Austin was a beautiful soul taken from us way too soon. Austin was born in Bennington, VT to Craig H. Wilcox and Natasha Gallett Wilcox on March 16, 1995. Austin was a graduate of Burr and Burton Academy in 2013. Austin is survived by his Father and Mother. His brother Gavin Wilcox, Half brothers Owen and Cole Wilcox, Half Sister Paige Weyers, A step brother and step-sister Bradley and Ashley Haynes and his step mother Debbie Haynes. Paternal grandparents Howard and Sandra Wilcox, Maternal grandmother Beverly Gallett, Aunt Chris Wilcox, Uncle and Aunt, Jon and Frankie Wilcox, First Cousins Emily and Eric Owens, Taylor and Dylan Wilcox and so very many friends that loved him dearly. Austin has spent his years following graduation working in numerous restaurants including 802 Pizzeria on Stratton, Workhorse Café, Bondville, VT, Mach’s Market, Pawlet VT and Dorset Field Club, Dorset VT and Pinnacle Properties South Burlington, VT. He had a dream of becoming a chef and traveling the world. He was dedicated and committed to his family business Wilcox Ice Cream where he was the sixth generation to manufacture Wilcox Ice Cream. He had recently taken over for his grandfather, Howard, flavoring all of the ice cream flavors and running the ice cream equipment. He worked tirelessly on perfecting flavors and creating new flavors every week. This art came naturally to him. He was an ice cream artisan. Austin enjoyed time with friends and family, hiking, music, traveling to Peru and he aspired to travel to The Dolomite Mountains in Europe. A Celebration of Austin’s life will be held on December 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, Arlington Chapel. Burial will follow at the Ira Allen Cemetery on Hill Farm Road in Sunderland. Following the burial, the family invites people to join them at the Watkins House at the Arlington Common for a time of refreshment and sharing.
