Austin James Maloy

January 23, 1995 — May 26, 2023

Austin James Maloy, 28 of Bennington, VT, passed away Friday May 26, 2023 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. Austin was born in Bennington on January 23, 1995, the son of Wendy (Hoag) Greene and Robert E. Maloy. Austin attended Mount Anthony Union High School where he was on the football, wrestling and baseball teams. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the river with family where he taught his daughter to how to fish. In the summer he was always outdoors and loved having bonfires. He was a talented gardener with a particular green thumb for growing marijuana plants. He stayed busy fixing things around the house and always had a million projects going at once. He spent most days alongside his brother Caleb, his most loyal confidant. He often had Chris Webby music on repeat. He could always be counted on to make his nephews laugh and they looked up to him and admired his strength and reputation as a feared fighter. He found his passion practicing MMA and went on to compete in televised fighting events. He saved his softest side for his truest love, his daughter Diana. He was a proud father, and she brought the best side out of him. Austin’s passing has left a huge void in the lives of those he’s left behind. Austin is survived by his daughter, Diana Jean Maloy, of Bennington, his mother; Wendy Greene, who he held very near and dear to his heart, of Bennington, VT, his father, Robert Maloy of Maine, his brothers; Ricky Greene,(of whom Austin was very proud of when he became an Army Ranger), of Woodford, VT, Caleb Greene of Bennington, VT and Bobby Maloy of Georgia, his step-father; David Greene of Shaftsbury, VT, his maternal grandparents; Sandra Holland of Idaho and Gary Hoag of Woodford, VT, his paternal grandmother; Elizabeth Page of Maine, his nephews; Coltan Hoyt Greene and Carbin Jeffrey Greene. Friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home in Bennington, VT on Monday June 5th from 3-5 PM. The family requests that contributions in Austin’s memory be made to the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street Bennington, VT 05201 to help offset the cost of his funeral arrangements and to hopefully establish an account for his daughter Diana.
