Arlene Dora Gibson (Pitts)

August 28, 1956 — November 15, 2021

POWNAL-
Arlene Dora Gibson (Pitts) 65, a resident of Schanker Road in Pownal, Vermont, passed away suddenly at her home on November 15th 2021.
Born Tuesday, August 28, 1956 in Newington, Connecticut. Arlene was one of three children born to the late Irene Cecille (Descoteaux) and Raymond Joseph Pitts. She spent her early years in Connecticut, and later moved to Arizona with her family.
As a young woman she enlisted in the United States Army, she was trained as an administrative specialist and had her marksman badge for proficiency with the M16 rifle.
Her status as administrative specialist was earned by her civilian experience in the workforce. She settled in California where she was a Mortgage and Loan officer at multiple different banks and financial institutions. Taking the time to enjoy a game of Rummikub with her brother-in-law Christopher. Before retirement she had changed direction once more and had become the manager of a few mcdonalds franchises around California.
She later retired and moved to Pownal, Vermont with her son Scott.
Arlene enjoyed her property in Pownal so very much. She enjoyed keeping up the property as well as keeping the house. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers on the property and especially enjoyed the foliage during autumn; which initially drew her to the area. As for winters in her beloved Vermont, she loved the snow but not the cold. However, the cold gave her plenty of time to enjoy classic rock music from artists such as Aerosmith, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Jon Bon Jovi.
Arlene was a huge collector of sun flowers, ducks, owls and salt & pepper shakers - oh. And the color purple - these were her small passions in life.
Arlene also loved and was loved by her and Scott's loyal Dogs, Black Jack and Buddy.
Black Jack was her loyal companion for many years, staying by her side until the end.
Besides her loyal companions, Arlene is survived by her children Scott Bradley Wascher, Cheryl Marie Williams-Leon (José), Jon Michael Gibson, Carson Avery Gibson, and Emily Rose Spiess. Her grandchildren, Cheryl's Children; Austin, Caidence, and Ashlynn. And Emily's son's Kyler and Cody. A brother Jerry Foster Pitts (Carol) and a sister Marie Mackey. As well as a brother-in-law Christopher Gibson, Sister-in-law Michele Gibson, and mother-in-law Mary Deith. Arlene is also survived by her many relatives, including the Mackey family and many nieces and nephews. Arlene is predeceased by her parents, Irene and Raymond Pitts.

At this time there will be no formal services for Arlene.

If friends should desire, contributions in memory of Arlene may be made to the 2nd Chance Animal Shelter, through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, Vermont, 05201
