April Marie Hawkins a former resident of North Bennington, VT and more recently of Cheyenne, Wyoming died unexpectedly Sunday December 16, 2018 at her residence in Cheyenne.
She was born in Bennington, VT April 25, 1964. She was the daughter of Wales Hawkins and Penny (Gates) Hawkins Farrara. April received her education in Bennington and was a 1981 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. She later attended Oklahoma City College where she received a BA in Social Work. April also served in the Army National Guard and had served in Kuwait.
In earlier years April was employed at United Counseling Service in Bennington After moving to Wyoming she worked at the Greely Mental Health Facility and most recently at a Refinery.
She was a former member of Saint Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington and was a member of Saint Christopher's Episcopal Church in Cheyenne. April was a Licensed Lay Reader and served as a Crucifer in the church. While in high school, April played the trumpet. She also enjoyed playing soccer and rugby. She was an animal lover and especially loved her cats and dog.
Survivors include her mother Penny Hawkins Farrara and her husband Richard of North Bennington. Her father Wales Hawkins of Raleigh, North Carolina. A brother Jeffrey Hawkins of Rutland, VT and a sister Chantele Hawkins of Raleigh, NC. Three nieces, Abigail, Caitlin and Emily Hawkins all of Rutland. Her Godmother Faye Hardy and her husband Bill along with Stephanie and Peggy. An aunt, Patricia Watson and an uncle Gil Hawkins and his wife Betty; Her cousins Rick and Mark Watson along with her close friends, Trish and James Chacon, Dorothy Stevens, Patty Maguire, Gabrielle Wallace, and Phyllis Bird.
The funeral will be held at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
The graveside committal service will take place at the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery on Monday December 31, 2018 at noon.
There will be no calling hours.
