Anson Allen Mason Sr.

Anson Allen Mason Sr., 86, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 5, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Anson was born on October 17, 1938, to the late Warren and Doris Mason. He was one of four children. Anson received his education in Pownal, VT and Williamstown, MA – and would later join the United States Airforce where he operated the electrical systems on the runways. Anson married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline (Wiles) Mason. Together they resided at their home in Pownal, VT, and raised their seven children. Anson was devoted to the family farm and spent much of his time taking care of it. Anson worked at Sprague Electric in North Adams, MA for 35 years. His pride and joy was his family. Anson would light up during times spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to tell stories – and he had lots of them. Anson was never one to stay put; he kept himself busy and belonged to many organizations. He was part of the Pownal Historical Society, the Mount Anthony Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, and the Pownal School Board. Anson is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Mason. His children: Jane Mason, Judy Bleau (Bob), Jamie Williams (James), Anson Mason Jr. (Debbie), Jenny Stone (Stanley), and Janine Bushee-Mason. His brother, James Mason. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anson was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Jolene Corbin and her husband Jeff; siblings, Jane Barker and her husband Charles, and Warren Mason Jr. Services in memory of Anson will be held on February 11, 2025, at the Pownal United Methodist Church located at 284 Church Street, Pownal, VT 05261. Friends and relatives are invited to a time of visitation from 11:00 – 1:00 pm at the church. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. A burial will be held later in the Spring at the convenience of the family.
