Ann S. Maynard, 90, widow of Edward A. Maynard, a resident of Branch Street, Bennington, died Wednesday, December 28, 20916 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Bennington on November 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Kearns) Silver. Ann received her education at St. Francis de Sales Academy and Bennington High School and later attended child's nursing school at St. Margaret's Hospital in Albany, NY.
Ann and Ed were married in Bennington on April 26, 1948. Ed died April 2, 2008.
In early years Ann was employed in the nursing department at Putnam Memorial Hospital and also did private care nursing. For twenty-eight years she was employed at the former E. L. Nichols Department Store in Bennington. Ann enjoyed cooking, knitting, puzzles, crosswords, playing cards and spending time with her family. Ann was very proud of the special bond that she shared with her nephew, Charley Silver and her niece, Lisa Kenyon.
Survivors include a daughter, Lee Ann Bushee and her fiancé, Joshua Kugler of Bennington; three grandchildren, Lisa Walasewicz, Jessica Potter and Kyle Potter; three great-grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Walasewicz and Deklan Briggs and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Ann was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Bushee and two brothers, Edward and Francis Silver.
The funeral will be held from All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
At Ann's request there will be no visiting hours.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
