Anita M. Gauthier died on May 15, 2020. Born in Bennington, Vermont, she was the daughter of Louis N. and Madeleine M. LaFreniere Gauthier.

She attended Sacred Heart School and was a 1961 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. She graduated from Trinity College, Burlington, Vermont with a B.A. in History and Education followed by a graduate degree, M.S.L.S., from Syracuse University, New York, in Library Science.

Her career was spent in Bennington as a librarian, educator, and administrator at St. Joseph/Southern Vermont College, the Bennington Museum, and the Bennington Free Library where she served as Director for twenty years, until her retirement. Career achievements of which she was most proud were supervising building renovations at the Bennington Free Library to include the Vermont History Room, and automation of the 55,000-volume book collection.

She is survived by a brother, Raymond L. Gauthier and two sisters, Diane E. Novak and Christine M. Gauthier, five nieces, one nephew, and their families.
