Amanda Jean Pratt (King)

Amanda Jean Pratt, 38, a resident of Walloomsac Road in Bennington died unexpectedly Sunday, February 21, 2021 at her residence.

Amanda was born in North Adams, MA on April 9, 1982. She was the daughter of Wayne and Wanda (Gaudette) King. Amanda received her education in Shaftsbury and Bennington schools, graduating with the Mount Anthony Union High School class of 2000. She later graduated from the Community College of Vermont with an Associate's degree in Business and Equine Management.

Though she worked as a paralegal, her real passion was horses. She shared this passion with her daughters, teaching them and many other local children how to ride. Over the years, Amanda worked at several area farms, most recently at Amara Farms in Pownal, VT.

She enjoyed riding motorcycles and attending concerts. Amanda was always available to support a friend in need, loyal to all she held close to her heart. She was fond of the beach, sharing many treasured memories with her family there. Amanda loved being in the mountains and at the barn. Most of all however, she loved spending time with her children.

Her survivors include her children; Isaiah and Amaya King of North Bennington, Portia and Neviah Pratt of Bennington. Her parents, Wayne and Wanda King of North Bennington. A brother, Jeremy King and his wife Taisha of Bennington. Her maternal grandmother, Barbara Tifft of Manchester and her spirit animal, Hayden Rabideau. She is survived by several aunts, uncles, her niece Aaliyah Crapps of Albany, NY, and many cousins. She was predeceased by her uncle Tyrone Gaudette Jr., grandparents, Tyrone Gaudette, Wayne and Elaine King, as well as her great-grandparents, William and Marjorie Kilfoye, Constance and Victor Blake, and Sisko Contaldi.

Friends may call at the Mahar and son Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday evening directly following calling hours.

The burial will take place in the family lot at Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington at the convenience of the family.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Amanda Jean Pratt may be made to either the Turning Point Center of Bennington or Gerdas Equine Rescue in Dorset, VT through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
