Alice J. Loos, 77, a resident of Garbrooke Drive in Bennington died peacefully Friday May 5, 2017 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by her family.
She was born in Elmira, New York July 9, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Donovan) Milliken. Alice received her education in Elmira where she attended Notre Dame High School.
In earlier years Alice was employed as an operator at the Telephone Company. She later worked in the office of Dr. Ghosh. Alice had also been employed at JC Penney, The Diet Center and for over 20 years she worked in the business office at Southern Vermont College. A job she thoroughly enjoyed.
Alice enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, the holidays and going to dinner. She loved her grandchildren and her pride and joy was her Volkswagon Bug.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Loos and her wife Carole Sheringham of Bennington, Kath Loos and her husband Chris Hogan of Albany, NY and Karen Gosselin and her husband Ben of both Bennington and Williamstown. Her grandchildren, Seamus and Molly Hogan of Albany, NY, Kadley Gosselin of Boston, MA, Castle Gosselin and his fiancé Elyse Maruriello of New York City, Sawyer Gosselin of Troy, NY, Anika Ulrich West of Citrus Heights, California, Tina Jones of Laurel, Maryland and Georgina Bain of Williamson, NY. A brother Richard McGill of Elmira and a cousin Ann Marie DiPentima and her husband Vinnie of CT. She was pre-deceased by a sister Mary Anne.
Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Sunday May 7, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Alice will be held on Monday May 8, at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service at the Bennington Station Restaurant.
