Alan Dean "Butch" White, age 74, a resident of Pownal, Vermont died on Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.
Alan was born in Bennington on September 3, 1943, and was the son of the late James and Marion (Dean) White. He received his education in Hoosick Falls, and was a member of the first graduating class of the new Hoosick Falls High School. He later attended and graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
He was employed at Eveready Battery Company in Bennington as a machinist.
Alan married Linda Lee Stanley on July 28, 1981.
Alan is a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge and the Bennington Elks Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. Alan was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a huge supporter of his grandchildren's sporting events, and made as many as he could.
Survivors include his wife Linda Lee White of Pownal, one son Michael Bacon of Hoosick, NY, step-son, Alan Martin of Lancaster, PA, two step-daughters, Michelle Brilyea (Larry) of Glens Falls, NY, and Nichole Willette (Scott) of Arlington, VT, his daughter-in-law Risa Bacon of Hoosick, NY. He leaves nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He has one sister Gail Gardner (Roy) of Hoosick, NY, a brother-in-law Roy Hand of Hoosick, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Willie.
Alan is predeceased by his parents also his step-father, Merritt Smith, and his sister, Joan Hand.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington at 2:00PM. Interment will follow in Mapletowne Cemetery in Hoosick.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11 AM until 2PM.
