Alan C. Smith (Smith)

February 22, 1951 — March 22, 2018

Alan C. Smith, 67, a resident of Stateline Road in Hoosick Falls, NY died Thursday March 22, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY following a brief illness.

He was born in Bennington, VT February 22, 1951. He was the son of the late Harold and Edna (Eastman) Smith. Al received his education in Bennington and was a 1971 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

He married the former Patricia Maroney December 2, 1973.

In earlier years Al was a truck driver for Merrill Transport and Vermont Container. He then moved to Arizona for a little while and after returning to Bennington he opened the Native American Gift Shop. He later worked at Greenberg's in Bennington and most recently worked at Carbone Honda and Toyota in Bennington.

He enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and telling stories.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Smith of Hoosick Falls, NY., a daughter Melissa Smith (Andy) of Pownal, VT and a son Jacob Smith (Jen) of Shaftsbury. Four grandchildren Melisha (Mel) Smith (Josh) of Rochester, NY, Matthew Smith (Brittney), Gracelyn Smith and Wynter Smith all of Pownal, VT. A brother Pat Brown and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Peter, Jimmy and Dan.

A memorial service will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday March 27 at noon.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
