Lorna "Lornie" Cole (Bass)

Lorna K. "Lornie" Cole, 88, a resident of Mechanic St. in North Bennington died Saturday May 28, 2022 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born in New Rochelle, NY June 12, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Lewis K. Bass and Dorothy (Aker) Bass. Lorna received her education in Bennington and was a 1951 graduate of Bennington High School.

She married Charles S. Cole on May 24, 1952 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.

In earlier years, Lorna co-owned her own flower shop, Flowers by Lorna. She later worked as a patient advisor at the Southwestern VT Medical Center in Bennington.

Lorna was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, where she was a Communion Assistant. She was also a member of the Norshaft Lions and the Red Hat Society. Lorna enjoyed playing golf and having fun.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Charles S. Cole of North Bennington. A son John Cole and his wife Sue of Rio Verde, Arizona. A daughter, Jill Peterson and her husband Bruce of Leland, North Carolina. Four grandchildren, Kristy Gaul (Greg), John Cole (Wendy), Carrie Peterson and Christopher Peterson (Kate). Three great, grandchildren, Xander, Violet and Rowan Gaul. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Muriel Jacobs and Gwendolyn Bishop.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday June 2, from 4: to 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
