ARLINGTON-
Elaine Doris Peacock was born October 25, 1945 to Charles and Louise Peacock of Shaftsbury, VT. The oldest of three children, Elaine attended Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales and graduated from Bennington Catholic High. Elaine went on to earn her degree in Education from St. Joseph's College, which sparked her passion for teaching and caring for others. She began her career at Sacred Heart as a student teacher, and went on to embark on a 40 year teaching career at Molly Stark Elementary School in Bennington, VT. Elaine treasured her students, many of whom kept in contact with her throughout the years.
At the age of 31, Elaine became a foster parent, adopting five children on her own and fostering hundreds more.
Elaine's favorite place on this earth was Nubble Lighthouse in York Beach, Maine. She visited as often as she could, usually sharing her love of her special place with her family. Elaine loved to sew and knit and had yarn everywhere! She made hundreds of stockings, blankets, sweaters, prayer shawls (to name a few), often gifting and donating her beloved creations, which she always put her heart into.
While Elaine held many interests and passions, her family and close friends were by far the most important to her.
Elaine is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Louise Peacock, her brother Charles Peacock, her niece Jenny Browe, her son Rob Peacock and some very special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Elaine was a strong, wise, independent force of nature who touched many lives. Her legacy lives on in those who survive her, including her sister Debbie Browe (Dennis), nephew Gregg Browe, niece Katie Frielund (Arthur), great-nieces Charlie and Colbie, nephew Andrew Peacock, daughter Angela Barr (Eddie Harrington), grandchildren Christopher, Gregg and Shelby Barr, great grandson Cayden, sons Todd and Jason Peacock, daughter Mistie Peacock, daughter-in-law Shannon McDermott (Michael), grandchildren Emalyn Remington, Aiden Peacock (Desirée Strotherz), Liam Peacock and Naomi Boster, her life-long friend Dorothy Marcoux, as well as many, many more aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Federated Church located at 102 Ice Pond Road East Arlington, Vermont on August 27th, 2022 from 3-5pm.
