Obituary

JEROME C. ROBERTSON
9/13/29-5/2/19

Jerome C. (Jerry) Robertson, 89, of Bennington, Vt., went home to be with his Lord on May 2 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass. where he had been a patient.

A former resident of Cambridge, N.Y. and Meriden, Conn., Jerome is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Bette Ann of Bennington, Vt., his two daughters, Donna Yount of Middletown, Conn., and Liza Lafountain of North Bennington, Vt., his stepson, Michael Meaney and wife, Doreen, of Bennington, Vt., and his stepdaughter, Colleen Vandal, of Wallingford, Conn. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jerome was also predeceased by a sister, Joyce Clark, and his parents, William and Pearl Robertson of Cambridge, N.Y., and a stepson, Mark Meaney, of Meriden, Conn.

Jerry was born in Cambridge, N.Y. and graduated from Cambridge High School there, attending Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y. after that. Jerry also apprenticed in his father William’s barbershop in Cambridge, N.Y., and became a licensed Barber himself.

After College, Jerome joined the Armed Services and did his service to his country as a Medic and Ambulance Driver for his unit in wartime Korea.

Upon returning home, Jerry applied to Southern New England Telephone (SNET) in Meriden, Conn., where he worked until his retirement. After retirement from SNET, Jerry drove school bus in Conn., and after moving to Bennington, Vt., he drove school bus for Dufour Co. in Bennington, Vt. as well.

Jerome was a good man, with many friends. He was a hard-working family man, always ready to lend a hand to help family and friends. He was an avid reader, his favorite hobby, and was a media member of Sonlife Ministries.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and by those whose lives he touched.

If friends desire, memorial gifts in Jerome’s memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, in honor of his three beloved dogs.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours or funeral services per his request. Arrangements are being by E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the entire staffs of Southern Vermont Medical Center and Berkshire Medical Center for the wonderful care Jerry received.

I have so many memories but I still remember one when dad brought home a baby raccoon he found along the road when working for the telephone company years ago. We kept it for a while and it would lick the ice cream wrappers and climb up on top of our door. He had to find it a new home once it started chewing on my fingers and toes.
