I only knew her as Aunt Marie. Her sister, Albertina, was my grandmother. I remember mostly all of the "sisters" that I would see from time to time. It has been many years since I've seen any of the family. I'm very sorry to hear about Aunt Marie's passing. She lived a good life

Rosemarie was "Aunt Marie" to me for my entire life. She was the kindest soul I have ever encountered.

Whether I was visiting on a Sunday with my family as a child or staying over during a school vacation with my cousins, Aunt Marie made me feel welcomed and safe because of her kindhearted manner. I always looked forward to visiting her home.

As an adult, I enjoyed listening to Uncle Mort's endless stories while visiting them on Leonard Street. I am not sure how Aunt Marie was able to sit quietly and listen to his stories along with whomever Uncle Mort was entertaining at the moment. (Ain't that right Edgar?) She had probably heard his stories hundreds if not thousands of times yet she sat quietly through each one...again and again and again.

The final time I visited Aunt Marie was last summer. My mother was visiting my family in Clifton Park from her home in St. Petersburg, FL. Dorothy and I drove to Bennington and sat with Aunt Marie for about an hour. It was truly great to see her again. Even though she could not hear us well enough to hold an engaging conversation, she would often simply smile at us. The Aunt Marie I knew and loved was indeed still there.

I will always have fond memories of my Aunt Marie...and Uncle Mort too.

Mark Joly
