Obituary

Jody James Loveland, 33, passed quietly at Jack Byrne Center on March 12, 2019 after a brief illness.

Jody was born in Bennington on April 4, 1985. He attended North Bennington Elementary School and graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in 2004.

Jody is survived by his fiancé Laura Spika and their children- Adrian, Abram, Adalyn, Oakley and Finley of Shaftsbury; his mother Colleen Loveland of Bennington; his brother Seth Loveland (Amanda) and their children Annalise and Jack of Bennington; and Seth’s daughter Laehla of Pownal; his “Ma” PJ DeVito of Shaftsbury; his paternal grandparents Pat and Max Perrotta of Bennington; his maternal grandmother Simone Coyne of Bennington; a lifelong friend, cousin Trevor Coyne of Bennington; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Ernie Loveland in July of 2018 and his maternal grandfather Jack Coyne in December of 2009.

Jody had a passion for football his favorite team was the 49ers. He was the quarterback for Mount Anthony, played during and after college, as well as flag football. He loved assigning positions for his children as he got to know their personalities. Jody was always outside; he loved hunting and fishing or just a simple walk in the woods. Jody’s childhood nickname was squirrel.

Jody knew many people and touched every person’s life he came in contact with.

Jody’s greatest joy in life was his kids. He was a devoted father and always put his family first.

A celebration of Jody’s life will take place at a future date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mahar and Son Funeral Home.

Colleen, Seth and Laura, My heart breaks for the loss you all are feeling. Some of the fondest memories myself and children have of our little "Lane" is of watching Jody train his dogs, rev his truck up in the mornings. I was fortunate enough to run into the beginning of July he had a truck full of kiddos that he proudly told me all about; it was clear to see they were his pride and joy! He was such a gentle wonderful young man. May God grant you all strength as the days pass and may your memories bring you peace but most of all may the laughter of your grandchildren (niece, nephew, daughter and sons) bring you joy.

May God strengthen your family at this difficult and challenging time. And may his hope for a world without pain and sorrow comfort you. ( Revelation 21: 3-5)

Jody came into paulins often when I worked there. He always had a smile on his face and I have to say, he is probably the most polite young man that I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know.. My heart hurts for his family.
