Obituary

Arlene Clara Wood, 71, a resident of Orchard Road in Bennington passed peacefully at her residence with her family by her side listening to music on Tuesday March 12, 2019.

She was born in North Adams, MA. February 10, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Clara (Packard) Johnson. Arlene received her education in Williamstown.

She married the late Bernard Ronald Wood.

In earlier years Arlene was employed at the former Jericho Valley Inn where she worked at the Front Desk and also in the housekeeping dept.

Arlene was an avid reader. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, knitting and sewing. When her children were young, she made their clothing. Her favorite color was mint green. Arlene loved nature, her animals, her raspberry bushes and taking care of her flower beds. She had a special love of wolves and over the years collected and cherished anything to do with wolves. But the greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlene was the heart and foundation of her family.

Survivors include her children Irene C. “Reni” Wood of Henderson, Nevada, Alena E. Wood and Thomas Lanfair of Bennington and Jennifer H. Wood and John Kickery of Pittsfield, MA. Eight grandchildren, Andrew Wood, Matthew Wood, Breanna Wood, Hannah Wood, Cheyenna Wood-Simmons, Shane Wood, Kyle Wood and Nathaniel Lanfair. Her great grandchildren, Isabella and Amy Alderman and Ensley Wood. A sister, Olive DiGennaro of North Adams and a brother Mark Johnson and Terry of Dalton, MA. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a sister Audrey Fagen and three brothers, Eugene “Sonny” Johnson, Charles Johnson and Arthur Johnson.

Services for Arlene will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

I am so sorry for your loss, but please keep in mind that the bible says there will be a resurrection. Acts 24 : 15. Do you long to experience the joy of having a dead love one come to life again? God's word the bible gives us that wonderful hope namely, the prospect of living in a paradise on earth and seeing the resurrection of our dead loved ones. Luke 23 : 43. The bible calls Jehovah God the creator of life and the source of life. Acts 17 : 24, 25. Therefore, the One who gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died. And in the future death will be no more. Revelations 21 : 3, 4.
