Obituary for Charles C. Nott (Nott) IV

Charles C. Nott (Nott) IV

Mr. Charles C. Nott IV of 7 Harvard Avenue, Albany NY passed away of natural causes Friday March 16, 2018. At the time of death he was with his dear friends Jeff and Pat Sterling at their camp in the Adirondacks. Charles was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and this was a place that he loved.

Charles, or “Judge” as he was known by many, was born May 10th 1934 in New York City to Lawrence H. Nott and Janet (Lawton) Nott. Charles attended the Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts, and received his BA from Yale University. After working in banking for many years, in the 1970s Charles became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation which afforded him many insights into the world beyond this one. Later he received a Masters Degree in Counseling from Antioch University in New Hampshire. Charles was a Certified Financial Planner, and the combination of spirituality, counseling, and astute economic knowledge made him a unique financial counselor.

Charles was known by all to be generous, caring, witty and good natured. He had many dear friends of all ages and saw them frequently. In addition to the outdoors, Charlie loved opera, history, and gardening, and his Wisteria and Rosebud trees were a particular source of pride. He took his children and grandchild on an extensive and memorable trip to Europe in 2016 which had long been a dream of his and held great meaning for all.

Charles is survived by his sister Victoria Nott, his 3 children Stephen, Elizabeth (Betsy), and Deborah Nott, from his first wife Dr. Lee (Gaskins) Kass, Stephen’s wife Lisa, and 2 grandchildren Daniel and David. Charles is also survived by his 2nd wife and friend Sarah (Field) Morgan and her 3 children. He is predeceased by his 3rd wife Jane Kelting, and survived by her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held June 2nd at his home in the garden that he loved, followed by an internment of his ashes June 3rd at Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester VT next to his beloved Jane, Father, and step-mother Louise (Webb) Nott.
