Anthony William 'Tony' Wigger passed away on September 28, 2022, at home in Pownal, VT. Tony was born in Massena, NY, on September 5, 1944, to the late Carl Joseph and Margaret 'Daisy' McMann Wigger. Tony grew up in Hogansburg, NY, and was a graduate of Salmon River High School in Fort Covington, NY. Tony moved to North Bennington in 1963 and was a graduate of St Joseph College.
Tony served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany in the Naval Security Group and then in the Pentagon for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Tony moved to Rochester, NY, for a brief time and worked iron while there. Upon returning to Bennington, he worked at various industries within the Bennington and North Adams areas and retired from Crane Printing in North Adams, MA in 2008.
Tony was a lover of history and enjoyed reading World War I and II books and doing crossword puzzles. In earlier years Tony was a soccer coach for the Pownal Youth Program. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, fishing the streams of Vermont, traveling and gardening of which he shared its' bounty with family and friends.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Daisy Wigger of Morganton, NC; brothers James C Wigger of St Petersburg, FL and Paul J Wigger of North Bennington.
Tony is lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Carol C (Christie) and their sons, Adam A Wigger (Jenna Daly) of Arlington, and Luke A Wigger of Pownal, his brother John C Wigger, Charlotte, NC, sisters Theresa M Wigger Brown, Petersburg, VA, Barbara Aram, Denver, CO, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held at a later date.
